BcnIn’s course of Spanish and Catalan Recent History has started but you can still join through the option to take 6 sessions of free choice.

Here are a few testimonials after the first class:

Thanks for organizing this course. The first class was very good and I am really looking forward to interesting Wednesdays during this spring!

I hope we didn’t scare the teacher with all our comments and questions about the Catalans. He is going to have a tuff time these Wednesdays, because we want to understand why Catalans are as they are!

The course is given by Alex Fernández de Castro, a law graduate from Barcelona University and Spanish Language and History Professor at the prestigious ESADE school.

Some of the topics of the course:

• Why is Spain a monarchy nowadays?
• How did Spain restore democracy after the Franco dictatorship?
• Why are some Catalans in favour of an independent Catalonia?
• What is the historic relationship between Spain and Catalonia?
• How did Spain modernise itself over the last 35 years?
